Charlottetown, Canada rock trio ABSOLUTE LOSERS today reveal their new single ‘Eagerness’, set for release on 9th September 2025 via all good digital service providers.
The track comes ahead of a special UK headline date next week on 16th September at The Strongroom Bar, London before the band appear at Reeperbahn Festival.
Recorded live in the studio, new single ‘Eagerness’ has swagger in spades. There are no frills on the recording—just a rock band at the top of their game.
Embracing the “butt-ish caveman rock” that the band love and have grown to accept into their sound, influences from AC/DC and Tom Petty filter through, with dizzying overlapping harmonies from all three members throughout.
The band have previously stated that they connected with their inner child whilst making the new record, and ‘Eagerness’ is a fantastic example of that approach, already quickly becoming an audience live favourite from the new material.
Commenting on the track, guitarist and lead vocalist on the single, Josh Langille, says: “Lyrically, the song is about reminiscing on simple times as a kid. There’s lots of nostalgia. Talking about getting ‘that summer feeling’ from a fellow playmate who picked flowers and gave them to you. Not quite sure what to do, you turn around and run to your boys. There’s imagery of flowers and sun beaming through trees. I even threw in a reference to Cotton Park in Stratford, PEI, where we all ran around as kids, and name-dropped one of the gardeners from the town of Stratford. The chorus touches on getting into innocent mischief away from adult eyes.”
“Every time I pick up my guitar, I play the big open cowboy chords loudly because it feels so good, so I really wanted to write a song that used them. It’s one of those songs that just fell from the sky. It feels like those are usually the best anyway. The basic chords and melody of ‘Eagerness’ felt so solid, it just made sense to let the song speak for itself.”
Recorded and mixed by acclaimed producer Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck) at Palace Sound in Toronto, the album was mastered by Mikey Young (The Chats, King Gizzard, Amyl and the Sniffers).
Unlike their 2023 Music PEI Award-winning, childhood basement lockdown-produced, debut album At The Mall, the trio went all in this time around, spending fourteen-hour days in the studio, fully immersed in the process. Walsh not only produced but also engineered and mixed the record, helping to bring the band’s expanded vision to life.
The album’s lead single and title track ‘In The Crowd’ and follow up ‘At The Same Time’ were released earlier this year, drawing early attention from John Kennedy at Radio X, Billboard Canada, Exclaim! Magazine, Maximum Volume and being added to CBC Music radio daytime rotation in Canada.
